Wolf Howl Animal Preserve invites you to join us for our Wolf Awareness Week 2011 celebration which begins on Sunday, October 16th and runs through Saturday, October 22nd. We are open to the public on those days from 12:00pm until 5:00pm. The admission is FREE. Come learn about the true nature of Wolves and the problems they face in the wild. Meet our resident Wolves – Chito, Wa-ta-chee, Ohoyo, Niko Akni, Waya, Woha and Nita. You may bring your camera. Please do not bring your animals not even to leave in your car. Territory is very important to Wolves and they will be upset and distracted by another animal’s presence in their habitat. For more information, see our Visitor information.
The goal set for 2011 Wolf Awareness Week is to create a consciousness of the role that a predator such as the Wolf plays in a healthy planet. The Wolf was all but exterminated from most of its historic range by the early 1900’s. Thanks to the Endangered Species Act and reintroduction into parts of the United States, the Wolf may be found again in a small portion of their historic range. This is a crucial time for Wolves as much of their protection has been removed. They are being hunted in the Northern Rockies and will soon meet the same fate in the Great Lakes States.
This year, we are switching things up a bit as far as our annual Wolf Awareness Week Contest goes. This year we will be conducting drawings. We will draw names daily during the 7 days to win a free Wolf Awareness Week 2011 t-shirt. Winners need not be present and no purchase is necessary. To enter this contest you must submit via our contact form below your name and complete mailing address. Submission must be received between September 1st and October 22nd, noon. Winning T-shirts will be sent by The United States Postal Service, so please supply an appropriate address. We will also need to know what size shirt you wear. Only one entry per person, please. The information you supply will not be shared or made public. We will, however, put your first name, last initial and State of residence in our monthly newsletter if you are a winner.
